Jon Brewer Photography is in the running for Channel 6‘s A-List as “Best Photographer.” I’m not much of a pushy salesman, but if you believe that I, in fact, am the best photog in the city, two things will happen. I will do a happy dance (and maybe have a sale), and I my head will probably become bigger than my house. So please vote if you can. I would really appreciate it, and I’m sure we’d all like to see me do the happy dance! Just click the link below.
Well guys and gals, we are officially into June now, and apparently Mother Nature has finally caught on that the weather is supposed to be warm this time of year. Along with the heat and sunshine comes a month packed full of events for Jon Brewer Photography. This weekend, I’ll actually be doing something very rare for me and actually attend a wedding (Ian Pyle and Miki Lynn Disbrow)…as a guest. It’s been somewhat interesting for me, as I keep trying to beat into my head that I don’t need to pack a car full of gear, nor do I need to wake up at 8am to be at the bride’s house to capture the moments of the bridal party sipping mimosas and curling hair. We’ll see if I remember that I don’t have to be there until about 2pm, haha.
Next weekend, I have the pleasure of photographing the wedding of the future Mr. and Mrs. Ryan Backs. Their wedding will take place next Saturday at the St. Susana Catholic Church in Plainfield, IN. Reception will follow at Primo Banquet Hall in Plainfield as well. The next day, I’ll be traveling up north to take engagement photos for Kevin Hierholzer and Lindsay Hoffman. Their wedding is set for October 16 of this year up in Ft. Wayne, IN.
The following weekend, on Sunday, June 20 (also known as Father’s Day), I will be photographing, as well as sponsoring for the 2nd year, Midwest Volksfest. It used to take place by the same Primo Banquet Hall listed above in years past, but has now found a home at German Park on the south side of Indy.
And, last but not least on the 26th, I will be downtown for the wedding of Adam Waite and Carla Vaughan. They will be married at the Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ at the corner of North and New Jersey Streets in downtown Indianapolis. The reception will immediately follow (pending me dragging Adam and Carla around the Circle for some quick photos) at the absolutely gorgeous Columbia Club right on Monument Circle.
As you can obviously see, I have a busy month ahead. This means for some exciting times, as well as some exciting stories to share with you all in the weeks to come. Stay tuned while I try to keep the blog posts updated as the same pace as my schedule this month! Enjoy the warm weather!

The time has come basketball fans. The big dance begins this weekend. And as a big college hoops fan, Jon Brewer Photography is going to join in the shenanigans. We’ve set up a bracket tournament over on ESPN‘s website for you guys to join (it’s free). I’ll announce the winner of each round (no prizes, just bragging rights), and after the final game is won here in Indy, I will announce the overall winner, who will receive dinner from Scotty’s Brewhouse courtesy of Jon Brewer Photography (or another place if you don’t like Scotty’s…which is a shame). Like I said, it’s free to join. Tell all your friends, pass along the word. Just follow the link below and enter “photo” as the password. Enjoy!
A few weeks ago I decided that I wanted to start a blog series showcasing local businesses here in the Indy area whose owners have a unique level of dedication and fun in running their organization. The first in this series comes from a restaurateur whose 5 previous locations are synonymous with college in Indiana. If you’re from Indy or have attended college at IU, Purdue, IUPUI, Butler, or Ball State recently, you’re probably already very familiar with Scotty’s Brewhouse. After following owner Scott Wise’s Twitter recently, I realized there would be a new, different Scotty’s coming to town…Scotty’s Lakehouse in Geist. Being a native Geist resident and long-time client of Scotty’s Brewhouse, I had to check this out. Read on for the rest of the story.
NOTE: Apologies for the photo quality. I know I’m a professional photographer, but I just had my camera with basic lens attached and didn’t want to cause a scene with a bunch of gear and flashes going off in a busy restaurant. If I’m able to work something out to get more commercial photos taken in the future, I will let you all know.
