Adam & Carla Waite – June 26, 2010

It’s an interesting and extremely convoluted story on how I’ve gotten to know Carla and Adam Waite.  I actually attended the same high school as Carla, but only really knew of her as Eric Vaughan’s little sister through the years until recently, where we’ve become close friends and shared many good times with Purdue and Indianapolis friends alike.  Coincidentally, her mother’s maid-of-honor used to live in the house currently occupied by my parents down the street from the Vaughans.  This might seem crazy enough, but the story gets better.  I actually met her husband, Adam, living in the same dorms freshman year of college at Purdue, I actually met both of them separately before they ever met each other, and fate seemed to bring them together years later.  So as you can see, I have plenty of shared stories and memories with this newly formed family, and photographing Adam and Carla’s wedding was truly an honor for me to do.
Mimosas – The perfect way to start your wedding day

The day started at 9am with the ladies arriving at Salon Krelic on the north side of Indy.  This is usually the most awkward moment for me and the bridesmaids, as it’s early and there’s this random guy in their face taking pictures of them getting their hair styled.  I obviously, for this reason, try to take things slow and break the ice as much as possible before taking too many photos.  Oh, and the mimosas above obviously help.

Coincidentally, champagne corks and wedding bands are about the same diameter. Now you know.

The ceremony venue, Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ, in downtown Indianapolis, is a gorgeous location, with a visibly long and storied history behind it.  In fact, both Carla’s parents, grandparents, and even aunts/uncles were married in this exact same location!  Talk about tradition!

"The Kiss"

After a wonderful ceremony, the bridal party was swept away in a stretch limousine provided by Advanced Limousines to the front of The Columbia Club on Monument Circle.  Before heading inside though, I made sure to get some more fun photos out on the circle downtown.  Despite the ridiculous heat and humidity that day, we were able to get some amazing photos…even doing some traffic-stopping for a few!  It’s always fun to walk newlyweds along the streets downtown, because they always get a kick from all of the positive attention they get from the passing public.:)

Still need to Photoshop out the random people up top, but I love this photo otherwise!

On Market St. just off the circle facing the setting eastern sun.

Quick stop for a kiss before escaping the searing June heat.

The staff at the Columbia Club were fantastic, which is one of the reasons why I absolutely love doing receptions here.  The little things they take care of for you are guaranteed to make your wedding day go that much smoother.

First dance as Mr. & Mrs. Waite. Notice the ring on her right hand. Over 100 years old!

Adam's parents enjoy a dance together

With Adam and Carla both being proud Purdue alums, it would only be appropriate to have a giant group photo with their former classmates, as well as friends and family who call themselves Boilermakers.  Unfortunately, I’m not able to be in this photo, seeing as I’m behind the camera, but maybe I’ll edit myself in later, haha.

Boiler Up! All the Purdue attendees.

You know it's a good time when you see faces like this

Wine glass remnants from a party foul! Haha, close call!

And I end with myself and my former high school classmates. Great to see all of you again!

Much thanks to Jim Cerone, the entertainment director (www.jimcerone.com), who did a truly fabulous job this evening.  DJ’s and wedding photographers usually become good friends after working together, mainly because together, we keep things on course, and try to keep the evening entertaining.  Jim was definitely one of the best DJ’s I’ve worked with, and I would definitely recommend him to anyone!

And, of course and always, much thanks to my assistants, Greg Scharton and Kaywin Lawrence.  I seriously don’t know how I would be able to do this job without your help!

Eric & Shannon’s Austin, Tx Engagement Shoot | Jon Brewer Photography - […] Eric & Shannon’s Austin, Tx Engagement Shoot Wednesday, November 3rd, 2010 | Engagements, Photography | Jon Brewer This weekend, I had the pleasure of being able to fly down to Austin, TX for the first time to photograph engagement pics for Eric Vaughan and Shannon Lewis.  Man, let me tell you…the food down there is amazing.  I’m still nursing a food baby several days after flying home.  I’m definitely going to have to make a trip back for some more authentic tex-mex.  Also, I’m sure many of you are wondering how I met with a couple from Austin, TX when I’ve never even been there.  Well, Eric is from Indy and a fellow Purdue alum, and not to mention I had the honor of photographing his sister, Carla’s, wedding this past June (link here). […]

Jim Cerone - Jon – fantastic photos! With 2010 almost over, Carla & Adam’s wedding at the Columbia Club was such an incredible night. So glad to meet you and here’s to more fun in 2011!
