University of Kentucky DanceBlue 2012

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of attending the University of Kentucky‘s DanceBlue dance marathon. If you’re not familiar with the dance marathon idea, it’s 24 hours of non-stop dancing to raise money, often for childhood cancer. For DanceBlue specifically, the proceeds go to the University of Kentucky Pediatric Oncology Clinic’s Golden Matrix Fund. The fund “was created to benefit the University of Kentucky Pediatric Oncology Clinic patients and families. Childhood cancer not only affects the child physically, but it also creates many emotional and financial difficulties for the entire family (DanceBlue website).”

To top things off, this year’s DanceBlue raised over $800,000! That’s amazing!

I had a wonderful time seeing such outpouring of passion, support, and enthusiasm from the UK students. Thanks for a great weekend, and keep dancing “FOR THE KIDS!”

Brett & Lauren Cole – October 1, 2011

EDIT: Photos are online! Click “Order” up there on the top right of this page, find the link that says “Brett & Lauren Cole” and you’re there!

Brett and Lauren have been an amazing couple to work with since the first day I met them with their welcome packet in hand. I remember in the days that followed Lauren had initially declined our services, but then her heart got the best of her and she emailed me right back hoping I was still available for their wedding date. Obviously I was, and soon enough, we were having a blast doing their engagement session in the alma mater of Miami University in Ohio (spending more time spouting out “that’s what she said jokes” than actually taking pictures). I knew from there on that these two were an amazing pair. Well, the big day arrived, and I was just as excited as they were for what turned out be a gorgeous day in downtown Indianapolis. Please enjoy the photos, and thank you Brett and Lauren for allowing Jon Brewer Photography to be a part of your special day! View full post »

Vandeventer Family Photos

This past weekend I had the opportunity to photograph the Vandeventer family in their beautiful hometown of Zionsville, Indiana. The weather gods were on my side, bringing breezy but sunny skies to Indianapolis on Sunday morning. I’ve known the Vandeventers for a couple of years and as always they were a pleasure to hang out this weekend.  I’m excited for them to have some refreshed photos to hang on their walls and hide in their wallets. Enjoy! View full post »

Ann & Robert’s Engagement Shoot

The funny thing about being a wedding photographer is that it’s rare occasion when I actually have the opportunity to attend a wedding. Even more rare is being a part of the wedding itself. This is one of those blue moon occasions, in which I’ll be a groomsman for one of my best friends, Robert Heeter (I only know him as “Bobby.” This Robert thing is a bit foreign to me) and his fiancee, Ann Mallinger. Obviously, it’s a little difficult to photograph their wedding while being a part of it, so they’ve hired the awesome Morgan of Morgan Matters. I did, however, have the opportunity to photograph their engagement pics, which are below. Let me tell you, I’m super stoked for their big day next August, and I’ll definitely let you know how it feels to be on the other end of a camera for once.;)Enjoy! View full post »
